stunning surprising surreal
word
word
a dear neighbor died
unexpectedly
tingles all over
trembles
she was much too young
the death far too sudden
such a dear soul
kind
caring
vibrant
generous
light-hearted
grief as a wave overwhelming
chilling crumpling confusing
all of us in tears
off-balance
this cold awareness
something beautiful and precious
gone forever
extinguished
a hole in the whole
it must be obvious to all everyone anyone
stranger or friend
walking through our neighborhood -
the absence of light

Maureen, I’m so sorry for your loss. I feel the pain in your words and sense the “loss of light” and empty feelings. Wishing you peace as you grieve.
ReplyDeleteMaureen - I feel the permeating chill, the aching emptiness, the numbing loss, in every line - I know it well. Haunting and poignant words, like a heavy cloak we've all worn at some point our lives. I am so sorry for the untimely passing of this lovely person. Strength to you and your neighbors each day.
ReplyDeleteIt is sad when our near ones leave us forever, but doubly so when we feel it was not time for them to go. Our condolences to the family.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tribute. So sorry for your loss.
